KOHIMA: Lok Sabha bypolls in Nagaland will be held on May 28, the
Election Commission of India (ECI) has said. The Nagaland seat fell vacant when Neiphiu Rio, who is now the chief minister, resigned as a Lok Sabha member on February 16 . The notification will be issued on May 3, last date of filling nomination will be May 10, scrutiny will be held on May 11, the last last date of withdrawing nomination is May 14 and counting will take place on May 31.
The Model code of conduct has come into effect now, the ECI stated.
